Round one for the men at the Le Gruyere European Curling Championships in Champery. Hammy McMillan, David Smith, Ross Paterson and Sandy Gilmour were up against Thomas Ulsrud's Norwegians.
Hammy was in good voice. The score was 0-0 after five ends. But the Scots gave up two at the sixth. They got a single back in the seventh. The Norwegians blanked the eighth. The Scots were chasing. A complete miss from Hammy with his first in the ninth was compensated somewhat by a great hit and roll with his second. However, Ulsrud made sure of his two, to go down the tenth 4-1 in front, in control and ran our team out of stones.
Skips in the house.
The coaches bench!
They don't really come much brighter!
Fifth end break. I don't really know what to make of this photo. It does look as if Ross has had our country colours tattooed on his back!
Anyway, welcome to my office for the next eight days. This is the view from my apartment balcony!
