Scottish Mixed Doubles

I was sorry to miss the Scottish Mixed Doubles this past weekend at Murrayfield. Kay Adams has a full report on the competition here. Louise Soutar and Paul Stevenson beat Judith McFarlane and Lee McCleary in the final after an extra end. Sounds exciting! Well done to Louise and Paul.

The competition was sponsored by Activecity. The Activcity programme aims to promote and raise the profile of sport and physical activity events in Edinburgh. This is being done through Active Schools, Edinburgh leisure centres, libraries, community centres and though a range of promotional activities at sports events. The key goal of the Sports and Physical Recreation Strategy is to make Edinburgh the most physically active city in Europe by 2020.

The Scottish Mixed Doubles winners get the opportunity now to represent Scotland at the World Mixed Doubles Championship, St Paul, Minnesota, USA, April 15-24, 2011.

The photo below shows Jenny Bain, Junior Vice President of Ladies Branch, presenting the Mixed Doubles trophy to Louise and Paul, with the Stevenson supporters club in attendance.
