Guest blogger Christine Stewart reports.
A day ahead of the Seniors' Qualifying, Greenacres hosted a Seniors' Invitation Day, 18 men's teams were there to get some practice in before the big one. In two sections they played off in a Schenkel system, the top six qualifying for the to play for first to sixth place.
The games were of four ends, very sudden death if you got it wrong in the opening end. Drew Gemmell from Greenacres won through to the top game against David Smith from Perth, another local team skipped by Ronnie Peat took on Jim Johnson from Kinross in the three/four playoff, two local teams skipped by Tony Tierney and Jim Beckett played off for places five and six.
David Smith's team proved to be too strong for Drew Gemell, third spot went to Jim Johnson and Tony Tierney skipped his rink to fifth place.
