Ready to go

The Dewar's Centre was looking great today as the countdown continues for the World Junior Curling Championships which begin on Saturday. Tomorrow is practice day, and today was the day for the 'finishing touches'!

Here is the ice team which will be looking after the playing surface this week. L-R: Craig Bayne, Paul Martin (chief ice technician), Johnny Wilson, Graham Smith, Phil Martin and Mark Callan (assistant chief).

Local schoolkids were here today rehearsing their role in the opening ceremonies. Mary Radcliffe organises the young volunteers.

Here are many of them. (Click the pic to see larger.) It will be an occasion which they will all remember.

It WILL be all right on the night!

Here's a couple of well kent faces who have seen a fair number of major competitions between them. On the left is the World Curling Federation's Keith Wendorf, and on the right is David Hay who was rehearsing his role of Master of Ceremonies for the Opening.

And the media area was all tidy and set up to go!

Here's another view of the rink, showing the seating at the bowling rink side of the arena.
