Men 2 v Switzerland

Leslie reports from Moscow:

"David Murdoch with Glen Muirhead, Ross Paterson and Richard Woods took to the ice against the Swiss team skipped by Sven Michel this morning in their second match in the Le Gruyere European Curling Championships in Moscow.

First blood went to David as he played a double take-out for three at the first end but Michel immediately came back with a deuce in the second with a draw for the two shots. Third end looked good for Murdoch for a multiple score but Michel played a wonderful draw round guards and stones in the house to lie shot, forcing David to try an outwick raise for what looked like a five shot count but it came off at the wrong angle and it was a steal for Switzerland.

Fourth and fifth ends were blanked leaving the teams tied 3-3 at the break.

In the next four ends it was all down to the skips' last stones and with singles being exchanged the game was tied 5-5 coming home, but the advantage belonged to David who was holding the last stone. With Switzerland lying two shots David coolly dropped his draw in perfectly."
