Norway Wins Euro Final

Leslie reports from Moscow:

"Thomas Ulsrud v Niklas Edin, Norway v Sweden, was a mouthwatering prospect for the men's final of the Le Gruyere European Curling Championships.

In the first, Edin hit for one and in the second Ulsrud came through a port to take a double and count two. Third and it was advantage to Norway as Edin was wide with his draw and Norway
stole a single.

In the fourth and fifth ends the skips exchanged singles on hits with nothing else in the house. Halfway and Norway lead 4-2.

Norway drew for a single when facing three Swedish stones in the sixth, and in the seventh Edin had a tap back for his two. Sweden was right back into the game 5-4.

Eighth and Edin, with his last stone, drew through a port and hid behind two guards in the back six foot. Ulsrud follows to the tee to count one and lead 6-4. In the ninth Sweden lies two. Ulsrud hit and lay shot. Edin tapped back for two. The game was tied 6-6 into the final end.

It all came down to Ulsrud's last stone draw, against two, which he laid perfectly for the gold medals.

Congratulations to Norway. A poor season by their standards has come good."
