Scottish: Men's Final

Tom Brewster, Greg Drummond, Scott Andrews and Michael Goodfellow, and David Smith, Warwick Smith, Alan Smith and Ross Hepburn, contested the Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Men's Championship final this afternoon.

The Smith team had the hammer and blanked the first two ends. Facing two in the third, Warwick Smith, who plays last stones for Team Smith, came up short with his final stone, and Brewster had stolen two. The next three ends were blanked. In the seventh, Warwick played a brave raise takeout, successfully, to count two shots and tie the game.

Warwick cleared the house with his final takeout in the eighth. Tom then saw the chance of a two by splitting a front stone, and he played it perfectly. Brewster was 4-2 in front with two ends to play. The ninth was blanked.

In the tenth, Warwick had a thin edge double to force the extra end but his stone overcurled and rolled over the face of the second counter. It was a Brewster steal and it would be a second Scottish title for Tom Brewster, Greg Drummond, Scott Andrews and Michael Goodfellow! They will represent Scotland at the World Championship in Basel, Switzerland, March 31- April 8.
