Taarnby Semifinals

Very well done to Barbara Watt, Jean Hammond, Maggie Barry and Valerie Mahon (and alternate Judith Carr) for reaching the final of the World Senior Women's Championship. The Scots defeated Sweden in this morning's semifinal, and will now meet Canada, who beat New Zealand in the other semi, in this afternoon's championship decider.

In the men's event, Canada beat Sweden. But congratulations to John Jo Kenny's Irish squad who beat Norway at an extra end, to set up an Ireland - Canada final!

The results are here.

John Brown's reports from the rink are in Toothy Tales, here. Louise Kerr's blog is here.

I watched the last few ends of the women's game on the UStream webcast. Lo-res, fixed camera, no commentary, but it was still terrifyingly exciting! Honestly. The Scots were three up with the hammer playing the last, and everything seemed to go wrong. Facing a bundle, Barbara froze with her first. Ingrid Meldahl played the runback, but left Barbara with an open hit for the game. That's the position above. She made it perfectly. That's the Ireland-Norway extra end going on in the background.
