We're moving towards the 'business end' of the week at the Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Curling Championships. The women were on early today, with three teams on four wins and one loss - Gail Munro, Hannah Fleming and Eve Muirhead. Jackie Lockhart's side were also on four wins, but had two losses, having played a game more. Sarah Reid's team were on a three wins-two loss record.
Gail Munro and her team of Lyndsay Cumming, Katie Wright and Jodie Milroy, had had a great start to the competition. Today they faced the favourites, Eve Muirhead with Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Claire Hamilton. The story of the game can perhaps be summarised by studying the photo above. A big five in the third end set it up for Team Muirhead. Hard to get back after that, and the teams shook hands after eight.
All the results can be found here. Top four after the round robin will contest the Page playoffs.
Jennifer Martin was back on the ice skipping her own team, with Claire Milne filling in at thrd for Tasha Aitken, and Fiona Telfer and Mhairi Anderson as their front end. They were against Kerry Barr this morning, and recorded a good win, Jennifer playing a double with her last stone.
This was an important game too. Hannah Fleming and Sarah Reid were tied coming home, Team Fleming with the hammer. It was to be a Reid steal.
In the other game on the ice this morning, Jackie Lockhart had a comfortable win over Katy Richardson, skipping the Gina Aitken team. That means that Eve and Jackie are both on five wins, with Eve a game in hand. Hannah, Gail and Sarah are on identical 4-2 win-loss records. Check the standings here.
