It was good to meet the Royal Club's new CEO, Bruce Crawford, yesterday. Bruce was busy networking at Perth yesterday, getting involved in the big world of curling. A keen and knowledgeable sportsman, he's a family man in his early 40s. I wish him every success as he gets to grip with all facets of his new job.

Royal Club has new CEO

The Royal Caledonian Curling Club has appointed Bruce Crawford as its new Chief Executive Officer. Bruce will take up his appointment at Cairnie House on October 4.

The official press release says, "Bruce Crawford has a wealth of twenty years experience in leading public, private and voluntary sector organisations and has previously held the post of Chief Executive Officer with Snowsport Scotland from 1996 until 2007 before working as a Principal Consultant for Strategic Leisure and over the past year operating as a freelance Sports Management Consultant. Bruce brings vast experience of working with other National Governing Bodies across the world, in particular the International Ski Federation and other snowsport governing bodies including Norway, France, Italy, USA and Canada. A successful organiser of international sports competitions in Scotland, England, France and Norway, Bruce’s familiarity with co-ordinating large sports events with over 30 participating nations will be beneficial in his new role within curling.

Having qualified with a Postgraduate Diploma in Leisure Policy and Planning at the University of Edinburgh, Bruce has also had long-term voluntary connections with other sports associations including Scotland’s Alternative Skiers Charity and the British Association of Snowsport Instructors.

Speaking about the appointment, the Royal Caledonian Curling Club, Chairman of the Board Willie Nicoll said, 'The Board is pleased to announce that Bruce has accepted the offer of the post of Chief Executive Officer. Bruce’s experience will be a great asset to the Royal Club as we continue to implement our strategic plans'.

Bruce Crawford said, 'I am pleased to be joining the Royal Caledonian Curling Club and am looking forward to working with the staff, volunteers and the wider curling community who enjoy the game. I am committed to supporting the clubs and individuals and I will ensure that, with our partners, we offer the support needed to keep Scottish curlers delivering world class results.'"
