World Mixed Doubles

Twenty-seven countries - Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latvia, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Scotland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and USA - will compete in the 2012 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship which begins on Monday in Erzurum, Turkey. It's the first time that Turkey has hosted a WCF World Curling Championship.

Judith McFarlane and Lee McCleary (above) won the Scottish Mixed Doubles title back in December (see here), and will have their first game in the World Mixed Doubles Championship against Romania at 08.00 on Tuesday.

The competing teams have been divided into three groups, and the round robin games lead to quarterfinals on Sunday, April 29. Scotland is in the Yellow Group with Australia, Denmark, Spain, Hungary, Italy, Korea, Romania and Sweden.

For the first time, there is to be live coverage of the Mixed Doubles event via the World Curling Federation’s YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/WorldCurlingTV which will be embedded onto the homepage of the event website www.wmdcc2012.curlingevents.com. The schedule for the webcasts is here.
