Christine Stewart at Greenacres is tonight's 'Guest Blogger'.
Christine writes, "At the European Mixed Championship at Greenacres, Scotland finished top of the standings after the round robin, in the quarterfinal game they met eighth placed Denmark.
Scotland’s team, David Edwards, Kerry Barr, Dillan Perras and Louise Wood had last stone advantage at the first end, they bided their time blanking the first two ends then scoring two in the third. They gave up one in the fourth but got another two in the fifth for a three shot lead.
Denmark came back with a two in end seven. Scotland went into the final end one up with last stone. No problem, David Edwards played a double take out to lie one shot to win the game 5/3. Scotland are into the semifinals!
In other quarterfinal games, Alan MacDougall for England stole a single shot in the final end against Russia to win 6/5.
Germany dominated their game against Hungary, final score 8/1 to Germany.
Austria against Switzerland was a close fought game, the teams matching each other tied at four all after seven, Switzerland needed the last stone to score a single to win the game 6/5.
In tomorrow’s semifinals Scotland will play Germany, England will meet Switzerland."
The linescores are here.
Thanks, Christine.
