There are lots of competitions to be aware of this weekend! Aside from the European Mixed Curling Championship and the Radisson Blu Oslo Cup, already mentioned, the Division C Qualifications for the European Championships get underway this evening at Greenacres. Five countries have entered women's teams (Slovakia, Croatia, Ireland, Serbia and Turkey) and seven countries have put forward men's teams (Iceland, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Serbia, Lithuania, Belarus and Turkey). The draw is here, and results here. Two go forward from each event to the B Divisions in Champery, December 3-11.
The second of the Royal Club's U17 Slam events takes place at the Lockerbie rink. Sixteen teams play in four sections, with first games on the ice Saturday at 10.00. The draw is here. The Under 17 Slam is open to male or female curlers who are members of the Royal Club and who were less than 17 years of age by June 30, 2010. The Slam will be played over five events - Perth, Lockerbie, Greenacres, Lanarkshire and Forfar. Many congratulations to Team Scotland for reaching the quarterfinals of the Euro Mixed. David Edwards, Kerry Barr, Dillan Perras and Louise Wood came from behind to beat Italy in their 08.00 game this morning, their seventh win in a row. Their quarterfinal game is at 18.00 (6pm) this evening.
