Stranraer fortieth celebrations

By all accounts, the Stranraer Ice Rink 40th Anniversary Celebrations were a great success both on and off the ice.

Robin Copland reports that, "The Stranraer dinner was a lovely, lovely night. All the 'old survivors' were there. Prominent amongst these were Bob and Betty (Grierson), father Norman (Brown), Mary Forster, Tom and Kathleen Barr, Hammy and Janet of course, Jim and Mary Wallace, various Henrys, Hugh and Beth Aitken, Hugh Drummond, big John Wilson - I could go on... Tom Barr got up, fiddled with his specs and brought the house down."

The Bonspiel winners were Kirkoswald Curling Club skipped by Jim Henry, with James Galloway, Pat Galloway and Ronni Doak.

Twenty-two teams took part in a 40th Anniversary Junior Bonspiel yesterday. The winners were Bobby Lammie, Finlay Wilson, Alistair Henry and Cameron Jess.

Here's my best wishes for the next forty years at the Stranraer rink!
