Division 1 at Ayr

Forfar fielded two strong rinks for their Division 1 games at Ayr on the weekend. I've had a fair few photos of the Duncan Menzies team (Stuart Taylor, Robert Fawns and Angus Dowell) on the blog this season, so I did not point my camera at them yesterday. Above though sees the other Forfar rink in action. Murray Young follows his stone which is being swept by Thomas Halder and Lesley Young. Hayley Smith is in the head.

There's a photo of the winning Forfar teams here with the trophy. Well done to them. All the standings can be found here. Last year's winners, Stirling YCC, finished in second place in the Division 1 league. Galleon and Hamilton 1 finished in the middle of the table and stay in Division 1. Stranraer and Hamilton 2 have been relegated to Division 2.

This CCTV photo shows Murray demonstrating his Cossack dancing moves, just one of the regular activities at Forfar Indoor Sports... apparently!

No ice was harmed in the making of this photo.

Here's Murray the right way up.

"Car park weight should do it!" Rori MacPherson and Vicky Wright are faced with a problem.

Most colourful curler in Division 1 - Andrew Muir!

Another of the 'I know your parents' pics! Back in the 80s I helped Marion Miller, Janice Miller, Jane McConnell and Moira McConnell get started in their curling careers at Greenacres. Jane's daughter Jennifer (Marshall) and son Stuart (Marshall) are already stars on the junior circuit.

Marion (now MacDonald) has three girls, and the oldest, Heather, was competing in her first big event at the weekend in the Hamilton 2 squad. That's her above. Now she's been on the blog, I expect great things in the years ahead. I hope she has as much fun as her mum had! And I hear her younger sisters are on the ice too. Who was it that said that there is a curling gene?
