Marking out the head with a tee-ringer on Millport CC's pond in preparation for the Dumfries Cup on Sunday. L-R: Sandy Forrest (son of the President and Secretary of Millport CC), Frank Mapes, Past President, Jimmy Lochridge and Arthur Rafferty (also a PP).
A lovely setting. That's Donnie McLeod of Bute Curling Club in action.
Sandy Morton reports, "Catering and spectator viewing was available for the Dumfries Cup competition on Sunday. The cook for the BBQ was French so the sausages weren't as cremated as normal!"
Competitors and spectators enjoy the winter sunshine. A good day was had by all. The building in the background is Millport CC's clubhouse, or 'bothy' as it is called.
The Dumfries Cup was presented in 1931 for competition between Bute and Millport. Trophies are being held by Susan Forrest, Millport Secretary. The big one is the trophy and a small one was given to the each player in the highest rink on the winning side. Bute CC were the winners this year.
If anyone wants to try their hand on outside ice they will be most welcome, although Sandy notes that the food has been eaten and the bar has run dry!
Thanks to Sandy Morton for the photos!
