WWCC2011: Scots Beat Canada

Leslie Ingram-Brown sends this report from Denmark:

"This morning Anna Sloan's team came of age as they saw off the challenge of Team Canada's Amber Holland in a game which Sloan, Claire Hamilton, Vicki Adams and Rhiann Macleod really controlled from the fourth end when with Anna tapped back for two.

Canada were forced to draw for one in the fifth and Anna blanked six. End seven and the game turned Scotland's way as Holland had a very silent takeout to leave Anna a free draw to the house for three shots and a 6-2 lead. In the eighth Scotland lay three as the Canadian skip played her last stone draw perfectly right on to the button to reduce the deficit to three shots.

Ninth end, and Holland overthrew her second stone draw leaving Anna an open hit for one. Canada conceded down 7-3.

Next game for the Scots is against the current world champions Germany and the veteran skip Andrea Schoepp."

RESULTS Draw 6: China 9 Czech Republic 3; Russia 11 USA 4; Scotland 7 Canada 3; Switzerland 8 Korea 6.

STANDINGS after six draws: China, Russia, Switzerland -
3/1, Germany, Norway, Sweden - 2/1, Czech Republic, Scotland - 2/2, Denmark 1/2, Canada, USA - 1/3, Korea - 0/4.
